Ipods

March 30th, 2007

In the U.S.A we have lots of technologies. and one big one is IPODS!!!!  almost everyone in are school has one. they are very popular. they play music, some have games and there are even ones that have video’s. Do you think they should be able to be aloud in school? I do. but not during class. Maybe on the bus and at lunch or recess. i mean really what harm are we going to do with a ipod? at lunch it would probably make us quieter. and i think if anyone has it during class time then they can be taken away. And if we have them during recess then it gives us something to do then be bored because most people dont like recess! Please leave a comment with your thoughts about this!!!!!!

 or NO?!?!?!?!

I strongly believe that digital media players should not be used in or out of class at my school.
Heaps of schools are banning Ipod’s from the classrooms across the country, according to Shana Kemp, a spokeswoman for the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Firstly class time is for working and learning. There are already enough distractions in
The classroom as it is and listening to your own music just helps people zone out.
Having Ipod’s just helps students to listen to their music and ignore their teachers.
Than they are more likely to blame the teachers for not teaching the class like they are suppose to be.
Secondly listening to Ipod’s and mp3 players exclude you from other people.
Clearly if you’re not socialising you can’t learn how to socialise with other people.
Thirdly Doctors have proven that headphones emitting 70% volume damage our ears.
Fourthly are being used to help students cheat in tests. Kids are coming up with new and creative ways to cheat more often and getting away with it. The way that they use digital media players such as Ipod’s and mp3 players are by downloading formulas as well as other materials on to the devices revealed by the associated Press.
Obviously this gives these Students an unfair advantage.
I still am certain that banning Ipod’s and mp3 players is the right thing to do Despite the opinion this may seem like punishing everyone for some certain people doing the wrong thing is not the right thing to do.
But as far as I’m concerned this is not punishing anyone us kids are suppose to be in the classroom to learn and not to be listening to music.
Surely not listening to music whilst at school is defiantly not an unreasonable request like some people make it out to be.
There is absolutely no reason for Ipod’s to be in classrooms unless schools specially require Ipod’s in the course of a particular curriculum. No non-educational device should be allowed in a classroom while there is suppose to be learning going on
The kids that are doing well at school wont miss their Ipods. The kid’s that do miss their Ipod’s are most likely going to be the ones that aren’t doing well at school. This is obviously why the students that miss their Ipod’s are the ones who precisely shouldn’t have the privilege of having one.

Hi Maria. My name is Hamish and I am a student from Room 3 Te Awamutu Intermediate New Zealand room3tai.edublogs.org). I think your blog is really cool. There are a lot of interesting things to read about. I would just like to say that I totally agree with you on the issue of ipods at school. We should be allowed to use them before, after and during lunchtime and intervall (our recess).

It would be cool if you could post some comments on mine or my classmates blogs http://madscientistzwork.learnerblogs.org
